Tired from almost 2 hours of wandering around Bur Juman, I came across Gloria Jean’s Coffee. It struck me that I should at least try it out. What I had:
- Mint Chocolate Bomb
- Apple Cinnamon Crepe
- Bottled Water.
It took quite a while for the order to arrive, 10 minutes. Apparently they gave my drink to someone else, so they brought in the crepe. The crepe came in a neat plate, dusted with cinnamon and a little whipped cream on the side. I found that if you take a bite off the crepe with a little cream it tastes a lot better than the crepe alone, obviously the crepe contained little to no milk at all, it would’ve tasted differently. But overall the crepe went well. The Mint Chocolate Bomb however was like After Eights spun together and served as a drink, I meant that as a good thing. It was a different experience, usually your intake of mint is limited to candies and toothpaste, although I liked that harmonic aspect of chocolate and mint, almost as if it’s fit for royalty. The bottled water, what can I say, BOTTLED WATER.
Verdict
PLACE: 5/10 Well we were in a walk path, I didn’t like the idea of people walking past me as I take a bite, the seats were comfortable and the tables were sturdy unlike Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.
SERVICE: 6/10 Of course I didn’t account for the switched orders, I understand, they were packed. BUT, I had to sit on the table and wave. If there’s anything I don’t like is having to wave at a waitress, there should’ve been someone by the door, or in this case a standby waiter to make sure people are attended to properly. I gave it a 6 because I did get an apology for my order and they WERE sorry.
FOOD: 8/10 I was satisfied, the crepe was great but could’ve done better
OVERALL: 7/10
Alternative: Cafe Japon, Dubai Media City
